Epiphone Les Paul or SG?

for a punk style sound i would pick the les paul, yes it is a heavier guitar but its the weight that gives it the tone you are looking for. i dont think the sg would suit that sort of genre as well as the lp. i dont know about budget for your amp but for that style of music the best brands you should be looking at are marshell, randall or crank but the line 6 spyder,although common nowdays, is a great standard state moddeling amp i.e you can set it to a variety of different styles or amps. the higher end models have what is pretty much a pod in them but it depends on your budget. there are more options to look for but they are the main ones that come into my head for that genre. amps such as vox' and epiphone are more geared towards the blues/funk end of the market so i would have to think about saying no to them lol
