How can a jail cut costs on male prisoners uniforms?
I am a member of a committee looking to replace the current prisoner uniforms used at our men's jail with much cheaper ones, in order to lower costs. Our prisoners currently wear denim shirts and pants, black shoes, black socks and boxers. I noticed that we would be able to cut costs back by more than 200 percent if we replaced these with polyester jumpsuits, flips-flops, white sports socks and "tighty-whities" (white briefs). Is this realistic and will there be a backlash among prisoners, especially for the white briefs, jumpsuit and flip flops. They would all look a lot worse than they do now and a lot more like prisoners with no or few rights.
