How do you open an above ground, 10,000 gallon pool for the summer?

I just pulled back the cover and the water is crystal clear with no signs of visable algae and the water has no smell. It's my first year opening as I've never owned a pool. Once I hook up the filter (hayward sand filter) and the nosels, fill the pool the rest of the way up, where do I go from there? What kind of chemicals do I need to put in right away before I go for water testing?
