First cosplay help, please?

Hi! I asked a question about how to tell my parents that I want to cosplay and someone said to do a simpler and not too expensive cosplay for my first. I need help picking a person! Things I like: Harry Potter, Kuroshitsuji, Death Note, Ouran, Legend of Zelda, Vocaloid, etcetera (gah, my brain is broken...). I actually prefer to cosplay as a guy but girls are okay, and I'm short. Please remember that it needs to be something that I can easily find/get and purchase myself, my parents would never buy something like cosplay for me, and I'm a young teen. Thanks!
